Special Interest Vehicle (SIV) Concessional Registration
Members of the Whitsundays Sporting Car Club (WSCC), who are owners of vehicles more than 30 years old, can apply to receive the discounted ‘Special Interest Vehicle (SIV) Registration Concession’, available from Queensland Department of Transport & Main Roads (TMR).
You are advised to do your own research to become familiar with your responsibilities regarding SIV Registration.
Please review the ‘SIV Concession Scheme Guide’ (see links page). As required by the TMR, the Club must provide evidence of your current membership status, including full details of your vehicle, on a Club letterhead, signed by a Club official.
TMR advises, that it is the registered owner’s responsibility to apply for, and/or remove, the SIV concession. The special interest vehicle concession can be applied to multiple eligible vehicles—there is no limit.
Conditions & Restrictions
This concession is based on the vehicle having a very strict and limited road use which is reflected in the reduced fees and compulsory third-party insurance premium. This is a privilege which comes with legal obligations.
The registered owner must comply with all conditions as set out in the SIV scheme when using their vehicle and ensure that anyone driving the vehicle is also familiar with these conditions. The Whitsundays Sporting Car Club will be deemed not liable for any member misusing the SIV scheme.
1. Club Membership
Evidence of current membership with a Queensland incorporated vehicle Club must be provided on Club letterhead, or official Club documentation, at the time of application for a concession. It must be signed by a Club official and include the vehicle’s details. It is a requirement and the responsibility of the owner that you always keep your Club membership current. If your membership lapses, you are required to notify TMR within 14 days

3. Retain Ownership of the Vehicle
Advise TMR if and when you dispose of the vehicle. Please also advise the Club immediately so that they can adjust your records accordingly.
4. How to Apply for ‘Letter of Certification for SIV Registration’
4.1 Check that your WSCC membership is current.
4.2 Ensure that your vehicle is more than 30 years old.
4.3 Provide Proof of Eligibility as per your vehicle’s registration status below.
5. DOCUMENTS REQUIRED by the Club:
a) Vehicles with current registration Queensland
* Copy of front of Queensland Registration Certificate – including engine number and year of manufacture
or
b) Unregistered Vehicles registered in your name Queensland
* Current Queensland Safety Certificate (Roadworthy) – including engine number and year of manufacture
or
c) Vehicles registered interstate IN your name
* Current Queensland Safety Certificate (Roadworthy) – including engine number and year of manufacture
* Copy of previous interstate Registration Certificate
or
d) Unregistered Vehicles previously registered interstate NOT in your name
* Current Queensland Safety Certificate (Roadworthy) – including engine number and year of manufacture
* Proof of Ownership (see notes below)
and
e) Clear photos of vehicle
* Vin number or compliance plate (showing Vin/identification number)
* Registration number plate (if applicable)
* Front view, L/H – R/H side view and rear view
6. Proof of Eligibility Documents
Registration Certificates
* A copy of the Queensland Registration Certification will provide confirmation of the current Queensland address and proof who the vehicle is registered to.
or
* A copy of Interstate Registration papers, will provide proof the vehicle is registered in your name.
Current Queensland Safety Certificate (Roadworthy)
An unassigned Safety Certificate is issued when your vehicle’s details are not recorded in the Queensland Department of Transport & Main Roads system (for example, interstate registered vehicles).
Current Queensland Drivers Licence
Provide confirmation of your current Queensland address.
Proof of Ownership
If it is a recent purchase, or a change of ownership – not registered in your name, please supply a copy of the:
Purchase Document /Invoice, showing details of the vehicles previous owner and new owner (you). The purpose of this supply is to ensure you are the owner of the vehicle, all other information does not need to be disclosed, ie: value.

Once the team receive and have processed the above-mentioned documents, we will provide you with the required ‘Letter of Certification for SIV Registration’.
